This was my foray into punk music. I had always been intrigued and respectful of punk, starting back in my high school days. I never could play guitar, but in the true spirit of punk, I did not let that stop me. It does not get any more DIY than this. Most of this was recorded in one day in my primitive home studio. The "drums" that you hear are actually a big cardboard box (bass drum) and a cheesy little toy snare drum from a dollar store that I added lots of distortion to.

This album really went nowhere. It got a little play on campus radio, but that was about it. It seemed most websites and publications could not be bothered reviewing it. And, most folks who were expecting yet another Gary Flanagan synthpop/80s/ new wave album were left scratching their heads.

I did perform once and only once as Reclusive Mute, at a show in Moncton. My buddies Chadd (drums) and Devin (guitar) were my backing band.

My most positive Reclusive Mute memory was doing a split 7 inch with the Halifax band Electro Chiac Therapie. My buddy Derrick was behind that. It was only the second time I had ever heard my music on vinyl. I thought the final result was super cool, and it still stands as a very proud moment for me in my musical history. I think some copies of that seven inch are still floating around out there. Some of the copies were pressed on rare mauve colored vinyl.
